It’s official. Donald Trump’s disastrous tax plan has been passed by Congress—and by “Congress,” I mean the spineless, disgraceful Republicans who have shamelessly secured a narrow majority in the U.S. House. These so-called representatives have shown their true colors: willing to betray the very people who put them in power, all for their own gain.

Here’s the truth that won’t surprise you: You and I, and every working-class American, are nowhere to be found in Donald Trump’s tax plan. If you don’t own a massive corporation like Walmart, this policy isn’t for you.

But here’s what is in his tax plan: $4 trillion in debt—a burden that we, the American people, will be stuck with for decades while billionaires line their pockets. And let’s not forget the gutting of Medicaid, food assistance programs, and vital support for the most vulnerable in our society to the tune of about $2 trillion.

I wish I was joking. But I’m not.

And do you know what else isn’t in Trump’s tax plan? The promises he made during his campaign. No tax on tips. No tax on overtime. No tax on Social Security. Three promises he made to voters, and three promises he quickly abandoned. Some Republicans have been spreading outright lies, claiming these promises are somehow part of the bill, but that misinformation was swiftly debunked

The reality is this: Donald Trump pushed through a tax plan designed to enrich himself and the ultra-wealthy. And it’s the people who will pay the price—the hardworking communities across the country.

All of this, thanks to the Republicans who ignored our warnings and sided with a felon named Donald Trump. But we can’t stop here. We cannot let this stand.

Now, it’s time to fight back. It’s time to take back the House and restore the power to the people. I’m not sitting back. Yesterday, I packed my bags and left everything behind—moving hundreds of miles away—into one of the most competitive congressional districts in the nation. It’s a risk, yes. But this fight is worth it.

I’ve fought—and won—battles from the State House to the White House. Now, I’m ready to take the fight to Congress and flip the House. But I can’t do it alone.
